On-prem vs cloud for industrial software: a pragmatic take
The honest tradeoffs between on-prem, hybrid and cloud deployments — when each one wins.
Cloud-first is the default for most software in 2026. Industrial software is the exception, and that's okay.
Air-gapped plants, defence-grade compliance, and latency-sensitive control loops all push deployments back toward on-prem or hybrid.
Our default recommendation
Run the control-plane (auth, dashboards, configuration) in the cloud. Run the data-plane (telemetry, SCADA, video) on-prem. You get fast onboarding without compromising the things that matter at the edge.
